Denmark Gambling Market Reports 7.1% Revenue Drop in August 2026

Denmark’s gambling market recorded a 7.1% year-on-year decline in gross gaming revenue (GGR) in August 2026, reaching DKK678 million, according to figures published by the Danish Gambling Authority.

The decline was mainly driven by sports betting, which saw revenue fall 42.7% to DKK132 million compared with the same month in 2025.

Online casino performed significantly better, with GGR increasing 12.5% to DKK415 million. This made online casino the largest segment of Denmark’s regulated gambling market during August.

Other gambling sectors reported mixed results. Gaming machine revenue remained unchanged at DKK95 million, while land-based casino GGR increased 8.7% to DKK34 million.

Land-based bingo also recorded growth, with revenue rising 6.4% to DKK3 million.

Despite positive results across several segments, these increases were not enough to offset the sharp decline in sports betting revenue.

The regulator’s monthly statistics provide an overview of gambling revenue across Denmark’s licensed market. However, the August figures do not identify the reasons behind the sports betting decline or indicate whether the trend will continue.

The Danish Gambling Authority publishes regular market statistics, with historical data available from January 2012. Future reports will provide further insight into the performance of Denmark’s gambling industry.
