Sweden’s Licensed Gambling Market Reaches SEK7.4bn in Q2
Licensed gambling companies in Sweden generated SEK7.4 billion in turnover during the second quarter of 2026, according to preliminary figures from Spelinspektionen.
The total was 5.1% higher than in the same period of 2025. Turnover is calculated as player stakes minus winnings paid out.
Commercial online gaming and betting remained the largest part of the market. The segment generated more than SEK4.9 billion during the quarter, up more than 7% year-on-year.
State lotteries and slot machines recorded turnover of SEK1.432 billion, compared with SEK1.423 billion in Q2 2025.
Land-based commercial gaming, mainly casino games offered at restaurants, generated SEK73 million. This represented an increase of almost 13% compared with the same quarter last year.
Spelinspektionen also reported that almost 138,000 people were registered with the Spelpaus self-exclusion system at the end of the quarter. The number was 0.7% lower than at the end of Q1.
The regulator recently estimated that Sweden’s gambling channelisation rate stood at 84% in 2025, down from 85% in 2024.
